Sirius nodded softly, pushing a hand through his hair and taking another glance towards Evans. He shook his head softly before turning back to James. "Oh please, she wouldn't go for me. And she's not my type. Just break it off with her. Sure it might hurt her for a while, but she's cute, she'll get someone else." he said, shrugging towards James with a light grin. "By the way, have you seen Amber since this morning? She got annoyed with me yesterday..."

"You don't have a type, Padfoot. Girl is your type." James teased. "No. I haven't seen her, either. She's probably avoiding you." He added half-heartedly. Amber got angry with Sirius quite often. James really didn't even know why she was his friend if he annoyed her so badly. Unless his prediction was right and she was just like all the other girls: infatuated with Sirius. She was just lucky enough to play it off as his friend. Either way, the latest arguement wasn't a big deal to him because she always returned as if nothing ever happened. His eyes accidentally landed on Lily, and he slowly looked away. "I don't even know what to do. Impressing girls is usually easy. I'm not even sure how to talk to her, on account of I've been horrible to her my whole school career."

Sirius smirked at James' comment, shrugging lightly. "She loves me really." he stated, resting his hands on the back of his head as he watched James. He really did like Evans then, with the way his eyes looked when he looked at her, they sort of glowed, and how he talked about her. "Just be yourself. Your true self. If she doesn't like that she's stupid." he smiled softly, glancing around the room, his eyes too landing on Evans. "Have any homework she could help you with? She's smart right?"

"She's brilliant." James corrected, flipping through his homework but there wasn't much yet, and he'd already finished what he did have. He shrugged, automatically coming up with a solution, and he turned to ask the closest girl if he could do her homework. She agreed, of course, and he gave Peter and Sirius a nod as he departed, walking to Lily's group. It was way more intimidating when she was with friends, but he was pretty sure thay didn't hate him as much as she used to. "Hi, girls. Sorry for imposing." He said innocently. "I was wondering if you knew what on Earth this homework wants me to do." He added, only looking at Lily this time.

Sirius smirked, nodding back at James, moving so he had a view of what his friend was doing without it looking completely obvious.

Lily looked up when James walked over, offering him a small smile when he looked at her before taking the homework from his hand, reading through it quickly, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. She rolled her eyes slightly as her friends walked away, muttering something about 'giving them some space to work'. She looked back up at James, a light blush in her cheeks before looking back down at the homework, starting to explain what it was he had to do.

James waved to a few of the girls as they left, before taking one of their seats, leaning over only slightly to look at the paper as Lily talked. It helped that he no longer took the class, so that he actually didn't know what it wanted. He asked a few questions, and took the paper back when he understood. "They really didn't have to leave." He said, looking around the common room for her friends.

Lily sighed lightly, looking up at him when he took the paper back. "I don't know why they did." she said simply, shrugging. She bit her lip gently, resting her hands in her lap. She glanced down awkwardly, pushing a hand through her hair before looking back up at him, a light smile on her lips.

James shrugged it off, jotting a few answers down before pushing the paper away, deciding to give it back to the girl instead. "How's your first day back been so far?" He asked, just to make conversation.

Lily watched as he wrote, a small smile lingering on her lips. "Good, it's nice to be back." She answered simply, "and yours?" she asked, looking down and crossing her legs underneath her before returning her gaze to him.

James shrugged, leaning back in his chair "Mine's been okay. It's good to see everyone again. Not much going on but all of this homework and Quidditch drama. I kicked everyone off the team so that they all technically have to try out again, just incase other people who never tried out before are more impressive." He explained, almost rolling his eyes at himself. Quidditch? That's the best he could come up with to talk about?

Lily nodded softly, watching him shyly. "Logical." she said simply. She needed to think up something to say fast so she didn't sound like a total nerd. "Yeah, it's good to see my friends again. It's good to be home." she shrugged lightly, shifting her position in her chair so she would be more comfortable.

James nodded, checking the time before settling his chair back down. "Well thanks for the help. I'll...see you around sometime?" He suggested, standing up to return to the boys before heading to his next class.

Lily nodded softly. "See you around." she said, smiling at him lightly, watching as her friends walked back over, chatting to her excitedly. Lily rolled her eyes, heading to class with them.

Sirius smiled at James when he walked back over. "Did it work mate?" He asked.

James grinned as he sat back down with the boys. "She definitely doesn't hate me." He confirmed, doing his best not to look back in her direction. "Now time to put work into my other project" he decided, scanning the common room quickly. "Wormtail and Moony need girlfriends before school is over, afterall. Who wants to graduate having never had a girlfriend?"

Sirius grinned at James. "Good for you." He said, kicking his feet back over the arm of his chair. "Where is Moony anyway? He usually doesn't spend this long in the library." He questioned, a small frown appearing on his face as he glanced towards the entrance to the common room.

James shrugged, also looking towards the entrance. "It's a new year. Maybe he found a book that he didn't read last year." He replied, having never been a big reader. "Gotta get to class." He said, standing yet again. "Oh, by the way, Snivellus is being extra creepy this year. He's apparently grown a pair, because he's shooting me glares and everything now. He's all grown up." He joked,

Sirius chuckled softly. "I doubt that. Maybe his creepy little friends have told him to toughen up otherwise he can't be in their group anymore." He suggested, shrugging lightly, standing up, walking towards the entrance. "Watch your girl Prongs, he might try to seduce her using dark magic."

James narrowed his eyes at Sirius' back and glanced over his shoulder at Lily protectively, because he really didn't put what Sirius suggested past Snape. The guy seemed to be a little obsessed. Then again, lately, it sort of seemed like he thought about Lily just as much as Snape did. And that was pretty ridiculous, right? He needed to get to class, and then spend time with Scarlett or something. Not that he figured that would work. Not much got Lily Evans off of his mind. Quidditch did for a little bit. That was it. He needed to fly. Soon. "I'd kill him" He said shortly to the guys, waving to them both before heading off to class.

ooc: skip to that night in the common room? Yeah? Yeah. xD

ic: Classes were finally over for the day and, despite the loads of homework, James' good mood hadn't faded yet. "Where have you been all day?" He asked Remus cheerfully, eyes on the entrance, waiting to see Lily again. He didn't wait for Remus' answer, and quickly filled him in on his Lily news anyways, trying not to sound as pathetic as he felt about his excitedness.

Severus stopped by a restroom to check his reflection in a mirror, and then left, preparing himself for what could turn out to be the best or worst moment of his life. First he had to figure out how to get Lily alone. Away from her friends. With her permission. He'd already gotten the classroom completely ready, and if she decided not to go with him, that was it. He was done. He'd spend the rest of his life protecting and admiring her from afar. His heart beat sped up when he finally caught a glimpse of her hair, and he hurried through the crowded corridor to catch up with her and her friends. "Lily, just hear me out this one last time. After this I'll leave you alon for good if you want me to." He practically begged. "Come with me? Please?"

Remus smiled at James' excitement, listening to him quietly. "Well done Prongs. You've got into the friend zone. Just keep being nice to her." He suggested. "And, not that you care very much, but I've been in the library doing a homework project." He smiled lightly, he'd been having a pretty good time working with Laila.

Lily giggled softly at something her friend was saying, stopping when she heard Snape. She rolled her eyes before turning to face him, glancing at her friends, gesturing for them to go on without her. "Fine, just this time, then you can leave me alone." She crossed her arms gently across her chest, watching Severus suspiciously.

Snape nervously lead Lily up to the astronomy tower where he had floating lights and huge plants and all sorts of flowers set up, so that it didn't even look like a classroom anymore. He turned to face her when he'd gathered his courage. "I'm in love with you, Lily Evans." He started finally. "I hate that I hurt you, and I miss you. You're the best, purest thing that's ever happened to me. I'm not asking you to love me, though. I just want your forgiveness. I want it more than I've ever wanted anything."
