Lily looked around the classroom with wide eyes, a small smile lighting up the corners of her lips. It looked beautiful. Her eyes moved back to Snape when he started to speak, a frown appearing on her face. She hesitated slightly, before she felt that hurt feeling of what he called her before stabbing through her again. "I-I can't." she said, her voice nothing more than a whisper. "I just can't. What you said hurt me more than anything anyone else has ever said to me Severus, I can't just forgive you for that. I'm sorry."

Severus shook his head desperately. "Okay. Well don't forgive me then. Let me make it up to you. I will. I'll do whatever it takes." He replied, shaking his hair from his face. "What I said was disgusting and stupid and I can't make it go away, but let me make it up to you. Please"

Lily frowned softly, looking down towards the floor. "I don't know if you can." She said, her voice soft. "I'll think about it okay?" she asked, not waiting for an answer before turning, walking out of the classroom, the tears that had slowly appearing in her eyes spilling over as she walked up to the common room. She didn't speak when she walked in, dodging past people quickly before running up the stairs, hoping no one followed her.

Lily was a little later than he'd expected, and he was in the middle of a sentence when she finally walked in, but as soon as James saw her crying, whatever story he was telling the group of people around him no longer mattered, and he stood up to rush after Lily instead. "Are you alright?" He asked, gently grabbing her hand on the stairs up to the girls dormitory to stop her without forcing her to stop. 

Lily turned, looking up at James, shaking her head quickly. "No." She murmured, her voice thick from her tears. She glanced down at his hand in hers, quickly pulling her hand away. She took a step backwards from him, wiping angrily at the tears on her cheeks.

James put both hands up, as if in surrender, when she stepped away from him, ignoring the blow it took to his ego. He suddenly felt stupid for following her. What could he really do? She wouldn't even stand too close to him. "Is there anything I can do?" He asked awkwardly, yet full of worry

Lily shook her head. "It doesn't matter, I'm over reacting." she murmured, looking down, suddenly feeling stupid from stepping away from him. She frowned as she felt another tear roll down her cheek, wiping at it quickly. "Thank you for caring." She glanced up at him, offering him a weak smile.

James nodded slowly, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "You're Welcome...I guess." He replied, stepping down a stair away from her as well. "You sure there's nothing I can do? I hate to see you so upset."

Lily frowned, shrugging. "I don't think so. It's just someone. He um put me in an awkward position." She said softly, unsure of why she was admitting this, but she was glad he cared about her.

James immediately tensed, automatically picking up on the fact that Snivellus was the reason she was crying. "Alright, well, stop crying atleast. The guy probably isn't worth it." He said as calmly as possible, forcing a smile before turning to go find Snape before no one was allowed out of their common rooms.

"James." Lily sighed, rushing after him, grabbing hold of his wrist gently to stop him from going anywhere. "Don't. If he's not worth my tears he's not worth you being in trouble." She said softly, looking up at him.

James realized the minute he met Lily's eyes that he'd do whatever she wanted. He also realized how dangerous that fact was. "I'm in trouble all the time anyways." He said with a shrug and a small smile. "Fine. I'll leave him alone if you stop letting him get to you like this. Deal?"

Lily sighed softly and nodded. "Deal." She said, letting go of his wrist, her hand falling back to her side. "James. He wants to try and make it up to me. I don't know what to do..." she murmured, her eyes leaving his to look at the floor.

James thought for a moment before shrugging. The old James would have immediately told her not to do it. To tell Snape to leave her the hell alone. But that wasn't him anymore. "What do you want to do, Lily? If you want him to leave you alone, tell him that. If not... then let him attempt to make it up to you. I can't tell you what you should do because I don't know what you want."

Lily looked up at him, trying hard to make up her mind. "I don't know what I want." She said softly, "He hurt me a lot, but, he- he said he loves me." She frowned slightly, pushing a hand through her hair, a confused expression clouding over her face.

James bit his lip, looking past Lily in thought. It wasn't that suprising. He couldn't stand Snivellus at all, but it was easy to see that he cared about Lily. Why else would he be constantly begging her to forgive him? This time, James had no idea what to say. If she decided to be his friend again, there was a chance they'd get together, and that was the last thing he wanted. But he didn't want to see her cry because of him anymore either. "It's not about what he says or feels. It's your decision. If you're still too hurt to be his friend again, and he still doesn't leave you alone, just let me know, alright? We both know I'll take pleasure in making him stay away from you." He said, smirking at the end before turning to go back to the common room. "See you around"

Lily watched as James bit his lip, ignoring the feeling of wanting to be closer to him. She listened to what he said, rolling her eyes lightly at the end, same old Potter. "Thank you, and see you." She said, turning and walking back up to the girl's dormitory, sitting down on her bed once she got to the room, thinking over everything James had said.

James made his way back to the common room, unsure of how he even felt about the conversation he'd just had with Lily. "I think I'm going to bed." He said absentmindedly to the boys before going to the boys dormitory.

The next morning he got ready quickly, meeting Amber in the common room so that she could take care of his tie, and then leaning against the entrance, waiting to see Lily and get an update on what she planned to do.

Lily woke up, quickly getting ready, throwing her hair up into a ponytail before walking down to the common room with her friends. She saw James stood at the entrance and bit her lip nervously, a small smile finding it's way to her lips.

"You okay?" James asked, turning to fall in step with Lily as they exited the common room, forgetting to say goodbye to the guys, which sent Peter into a frenzy, rambling about James not caring about them anymore now that Lily didn't hate him. "If not, just say the word and he'll wish he never even spoke to you" He added quietly, smiling lightly to show her he was somewhat joking. "Do you have any idea what you're going to do?"
